Obituary of Albert Eggers

Albert Allen Eggers, 89, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Heritage Green Daybreak where he had resided for the last 3-1/2 years. Prior, he had resided at New London, Virginia on Turkey Foot Road for the most part of his years since he was 4 years old. He was born on February 14, 1923 at Yellow Branch, Virginia to Charles Franklin Eggers, Sr. and Bonnie Perry Eggers. Albert attended the historic New London Academy, was a former member of the New London Ruritan Club and Forest Baptist Church and in his later years he was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and attended faithfully until the declining health of his wife and then his. Albert went to work at an early age. He helped his father with the building of Timberlake, worked in the Newport News Shipyard during World War II. Albert came back to Lynchburg in the mid 1940?s and worked at the Lynchburg Hosiery Mill and then for the most part of his life as a builder, building many residential homes in the areas of New London, Timberlake and Lynchburg. He leaves his family that will miss him greatly, but knows that they will rejoin him in a better place someday. Albert is survived by his only child, Brenda E. Shrewsbury and her husband Glen, three loving grandsons, Edward Shrewsbury, Allen Shrewsbury (Renee) and Matthew Shrewsbury (Britney) and seven loving great grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Elena Shrewsbury, Dale Shrewsbury, Tucker Shrewsbury, Will Shrewsbury, Noah Shrewsbury and Zac Hatch, four loving sisters, Vera E. Tucker, Mattie E. Droog, Vada E. Barrett (Jack) and Helen E. Davidson (Bobby). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Miles Eggers in 2004, a sister Estelle E. Arnnett, and two brothers, Charles Franklin Eggers, Jr. and Ralph K. (Jim) Eggers. A Celebration of Albert?s Life and Faith will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, 237-2722,with the Rev. Dan Manley officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
