Obituary of Vaughton Watson

Vaughton Coolidge Watson, 86, of Winston Salem, NC. passed away at home on Friday, January 4, 2013. Previously, he was a long time resident of Turkey Foot Road in Forest, VA. Born in Watauga County, NC on April 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Amos and Rosie Watson and grew up in the mountains of Deep Gap, NC. Mr. Watson served with the United States Navy during World War II. Then, after a career of manufacturing church furniture, he retired from Winbarger Corporation. VC was a strong believer and a long-term member of Timberlake Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by Elsie Lee Grogan Watson, his wife of fifty-seven years. He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Watson Petitt, and her husband, Charles, of Winston Salem; two granddaughters, Alicia and Tiffany Petitt and two sisters, Peggy Bumgarner of Forest and Sue Phillips of Richmond. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel in Lynchburg, VA. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at diuguidfuneralservice.com.
