Obituary of Virginia Cobb

Virginia Bond Cox Cobb, 88, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Westminster Canterbury. She was the wife of the late Linwood M. Cobb, Jr. Born January 30, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Cox, Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother, John B. Cox III of Birmingham, Al and Mrs. Kenneth H. Epple (Mamie Bond) of Greensboro, NC. She attended Mary Baldwin College and was graduated from Longwood College. She was a life-long member of Rivermont EPC. She was a retired kindergarten teacher for the Lynchburg Public Schools, most recently, Paul Munro Elementary. She is survived by her five children, Charles R. Cobb (Mary Glenn), Winston C. Green (Roger), John B. Cobb (Vicki), Gina C. Gay, Jr. (Kell) of Lynchburg and Linwood M. Cobb, III (Jennifer) of Richmond; 11 grandchildren, Charles Cobb, Sarah Cobb, George Cobb, Tyler Cobb, Laura Cobb, Macon Cobb, Duncan Gay Maye, W. Kell Gay III, Lindsay Cobb Rayfield, Taylor Cobb, Sarah Cobb and 7 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ron Cox and the Rev. Clay Smith officiating with a private burial at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the Hume Room at Westminster Canterbury today, March 18, 2013 from 4:30-6:30P.M. Ginny?s love of her family and her faith was her life?s blessing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rivermont EPC, 2424 Rivermont Ave, Lynchburg, VA 24503 or Sports Outreach International, 106B Tradewynd Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
