Obituary of Phronia Constance Owen

PHRONIA CONSTANCE OWEN Our merciful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came and lovingly embraced one great woman of faith and grace, Phronia Constance Owen, on November 14, 2013. He gently took her home to Heaven which is promised in his Word. She kept her trust and faith in the Lord. Her devoted and loving husband, along with her caring and loving family, were able to care for her at home during the final days of her life. She is survived by her husband of 58 years and ten months, James Edward Owen; six children: Phronia Massie and her husband Keith, Melodie Givens and her husband Mark, Barbara Hull and her husband Dale, J. C. Owen, Angie Laughlin and her husband Haden, and Tracy Owen and his wife Tresea; twelve grandchildren; Brittan Massie and his wife Ashby, Coltan Massie, Daniel Givens and his wife Katie, Kelly Givens, Jonathan Hull, Darah Hull, Kellan Hull, Kyle Owen and his wife Carolyn, Casey Owen, Connie Laughlin, Isaac Owen, and Jacob Owen. She was blessed with four great grandchildren: Treyse Sowell, Tristan Sowell, Nicole Owen, and James Ray Owen; one brother, Bill White and his wife, Jenny, their daughters Lois and Betty, and their son Billy. In addition, she has two surviving aunts, Rachel Proffitt and Julie Stinnett. She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney White, her mother, Barbara White, two sisters, Starr Trent and Barbara Jean White; and one uncle, John D. Clements, Jr. Connie Owen was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, housewife, and a woman of many gifts and talents that our Lord had bestowed upon her. She loved our Lord with all her heart and soul. She was a fantastic cook and she enjoyed cooking for her husband and her family. Her all-time favorite enterainer since childhood was Elvis Presley and her favorite tribute artist is Taylor Rodriguez. Her love for life and nature, whether infinite or minute in form, was evident and undeniable. She leaves behind a profound legacy of what family means because she gave so much of herself to take care of us. Our family would like to thank Hospice for their tender-loving assistance, all our extended family members and friends for their generous acts of kindness, and all the prayers lifted up for us. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers. Family visitation night will be Sunday, November 17th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Diuguid's on Timberlake Rd, Lynchburg. Connie's "celebration of life" will be held Monday, November 18th , at Diuguid's at 1:00 PM. The service will be conducted by Pastor John Sines, Jr. Interment service will be held at Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery. We thank God above for the Birth of Phronia Constance Owen on August 24th, 1939. In her 74 years of life on earth, she was an infinite blessing that we will always treasure.
