A few years ago, I had the pleasure of staying with Jim and Shirley and my friend Bob at their lovely home and property. Bob had talked about his parents before, and it was a pleasure to meet them both and be their guest. Both felt like instant friends. They laughed at me when I "caught a tree" with my fishing lure, and we all laughed at their story of visitors who commented on the sounds they were playing outside with their "nature tapes." It was a wonderful week, and I will remember Jim and Shirley fondly forever. To Bob, Shirley, and family, my sympathy and best wishes are with you. Sincerely, Gavin Seeberger

Sending condolences to the Lynde family. I am one of the many people treated by Dr. Lynde at the Comprehensive Breast Imaging clinic at both Va Baptist and Bedford Memorial Hospital. I am grateful for his expertise in treating my fibrocystic breast disorder. He was truly a wonderful person and an excellent physician. May all your good memories of him bring you peace.
Sincerely,
Arelia Langhorne

Dr Lynde was truly a man of valor and honor. I met him in 1947 at Lynchburg General when I arrived as a student in the program of Radiology. I grew to admire his way of work and what he demanded as a good technologist to be. He treated me like family and I grew to love him and his family thru the years. He inspired me to get my first mammogram even though I was scared. From then on, I was not afraid . I will miss a great man who loved his work and people. Priscilla

Hi never had the opportunity to meet Dr. Lynde, but feel I know a bit of the type of wonderful husband and father he was to his family from my friendships with his sons Robert and Ross. My condolences and best wishes to all that knew him. My thoughts are with the entire Lynde family.

I will remember Dr. Lynde the last time I saw him, at Walgreen's buying shaving cream. He hugged me and told me he missed me and asked, " how I was doing?"
I remember getting his lunch at 11:30 everyday which, by the way was a salad, and fixing him a fresh pot of coffee.
Whenever I asked if he would buy us lunch from the Cavalier he would reply, "yes, what do you all want today?" He would always order a club sandwich on "gummy white bread."
He would say, "Shirley doesn't like for me to eat gummy white bread."
We had many, many great times at Breast Imaging!
Wonderful Christmas parties!
Will always have fond memories!
Love to Shirley and family,
Mabel Cox

I am so sorry to hear this news today.. Dr. Lynde was a pioneer in his field and I spent countless hours learning from him and crunching statistics that he believed would prove his theories. He was tireless, dedicated, and had an amazing sense of humor. He was my friend and I cherish my memories of our time working together. Sending loving thoughts and prayers to all of the Lynde family. Thank you for sharing him with me.

Hearing the news of Dr. Lynde's death this morning broke my heart. He and I spent a lot of time together when he first came to the Carilion breast center. He was a bit rough around the edges but had a heart of gold. I loved his humor and quick wit. I have greatly missed him since his retirement.
Mrs. Lynde and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. He was an amazing man. He will not be soon forgotten. He made a tremendous impact on me and I loved working with him. His stories and jokes were unmatched by any. Prayers for comfort in such a difficult time.
