Obituary of Robert Davis

Robert Leon Davis, 75, of Raleigh, NC and formerly of Holmdel, NJ, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in Carolina Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness . Born January 6, 1932 in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late Wade A and Nannie Rice Davis. He was a 1949 graduate of John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia , served in the United States Airforce, graduated from the University of Virginia Engineering School in 1958 and held a Masters degree from New York University in 1960. He was employed by Bell Laboratories in New Jersey for 35 years before his retirement. He is survived by his former wife Jean Hogan Davis of Lynchburg; one son Benjamin Davis of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Beverly D. Musselwhite and her husband Daniel of Wendell, NC and two grandchildren, Danielle and Charles Musselwhite. He is also survived by two nephews, Steve Everett and Larry Powers and three nieces, Julie Powers, Donna Lynn Watkins and Mary Taylor Renshaw and a sister-in-law, Lois H. Everett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Bette Davis Powers. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 10, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in Virginia Memorial Park with Rev, Michael Cox officiating. The family will gather at Diuguid Funeral Service-Wiggington Chapel for a visitation and reception at 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
