Obituary of Ann Heald

Ann Garland Heald, 57, of Lynchburg departed for heaven Friday, September 14, 2007 at her home, after a long illness. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elsie R. Fitzgerald and grandfather Garland C. Fitzgerald. In addition to her father she leaves behind her brother, Robert S. Heald and wife Dale; and two nieces, Macon Ashley Heald and Shanon F. Poteete and husband Danny. Born March 23, 1950, she was the daughter of Arthur "Bud" Heald and the late Ann Reckford Fitzgerald Heald. Garland played No. 2 on E.C. Glass High School's first girl's tennis team. She attended Converse College and the University of South Carolina. She performed secretarial duties for U.S.C. and Virginia Episcopal School. She started and ran a cleaning company in Raliegh, NC called "Carolina Broom". Garland was baptized and was a life-long member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She will be remembered for her unselfish love given to her family, friends and animals. A graveside service will be conducted by the Reverend Robert Marshall on Monday, Sept. 17 at 11:00 am in Fort Hill Memorial Park with a reception following for friends and family at her residence.
