Obituary of John Hurt

John Daniel Hurt, 93, of Lynchburg died Saturday, February 2, 2008 in The Carrington. He was the husband of the late Lucy Beard Hurt. Born July 7, 1914 in Farmville he was a son of the late William Travis and Annie Carroll Hurt. John was a US Navy WW II veteran and a retired paint contractor. He was a long time active member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught Sunday school. John is survived by a devoted sister-in-law, Frances J. Foster and husband Buck of Lynchburg; a niece Janice Adcock and husband Robert of Madison Heights; a nephew, James Horton of Lynchburg; a devoted, loving friend, Dora C. Moore of Lynchburg and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday 1:00 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Frances J. Foster. .
