Obituary of Lewis Dudley

Lewis Thornton Dudley, Sr, 77, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008 in Lynchburg General Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Allie Irby Dudley. Born August 3, 1930 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Samuel L. and Carrie Elizabeth Dudley. Mr. Dudley was retired from Mead Corporation. He was of the Methodist faith and served in the U. S. Army. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his close friends. He is survived by one son, Lewis T. Dudley, Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Rustburg; two daughters, Linda D. Brewer and her husband Todd of Raleigh, NC and Wendy D. Matthews and her husband William of Evington,: one sister, Lois Fogle of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Christy and Shaun Dudley; two great-grandchildren, Brenden Dudley and Destiney Dudley-Seevers. He is also survived by his special friend Sandra Paige and his little four legged friend and companion "Toby". He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Melvin Dudley and one sister, Ethel Tuggle. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Pillow officiating.
