Obituary of John Henry Staples
John Henry Staples, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, November 05, 2023, at his residence. Born May 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Gerald and Helen Staples.
He was lovingly called “BABE” by his wife. He is survived by his wife, Joy Cofflin Staples, who he lovingly called “Doll”. They had been married for 28 years. He is survived by a son, Douglas L. Staples; step-son Stephen Lawhorne; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A new great granddaughter is due soon.
He was a member of the former College Hill Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon. He was a good, kind-hearted man and always put the Lord first.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Hudson, his brother, Daniel “Zeke” Staples and his son, Phillip Staples.
In 1997, John started his own business as a sub-contractor for Norfolk Southern Railroad track maintenance department.
Thanks to his nephew, Kenneth “T” Staples for assisting us with his strength and ability. A special thanks to his two good friends, Eddie “Buck” Hudson and Ron “Coffee Man” Epps. Ron and John would ride together every day for coffee at McDonalds and were like brothers.
We wish to thank Natalie and Megan who were his therapists at Liberty Ridge Rehab and his nurses, Lorene and Penny, with Gentle Shepard Hospice.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 2:00 to 3:00pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel followed by a celebration of John’s life at 3:00pm officiated by Rev. Dr. Monty Fox. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
