Obituary of Sabina Domanski Kurello

Sabina Helen Kurello, age 93 of Forest, Virginia was welcomed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday May 27, 2023. She was the loving wife of her adoring husband of nearly 71 years, Leonard John Kurello, who survives her.

She was born in Ashley, PA on September 24, 1929 to Helena and Jozef Domanski. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Szejwa and nine brothers: Stanley Shulenski, John Shulenski, Frank Shulenski, Pete Shulenski, Alfred Domanski, Joseph “Red” Domanski, Chester Domanski, Leonard Domanski, and Bernard Domanski.

Sabina graduated from Ashley/Sugar Notch High School and in her younger years enjoyed music and dancing. She met the love of her life, Leonard John Kurello at a dance in their hometown of Wilkes Barre, PA. After many more evenings of the jitterbug and polka dances, the couple celebrated their 70^th wedding anniversary this past November.

Sabina had many talents, but her greatest joys were cooking, baking, and the Olive Garden. She was well known for her apple pies, and for making delicious meals for her large extended family. Sabina was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Bedford, VA.

Sabina was the proud parent of 4 children: Dr. Leonard John Kurello (Vonda) of Brohman, MI, Dr. Phillip John Kurello (Deborah) of Lehman, PA, Brittney Kurello of Clarks Summit, PA, and Dr. Anastasia Katany (Joseph) of Forest, VA all of whom survive her. She was blessed with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She also leaves behind two very special friends, Laura Stasio and Mona White, to whom the family owes a debt of gratitude for their compassionate care over the past few years.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday June 1, 2023 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel in Lynchburg. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 Friday morning June 2, 2023 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church with internment on Monday June 5, 2023 at Saint Mary’s Cemetery In Wilkes Barre, PA.
