Harriet Taylor Ramsey, 92, died on Saturday, June 26, 2022. She was the last surviving child of Mary Hannah Wood (Birdie) and John Edwards Taylor. She was predeceased by her parents and her five siblings; Jack, Cecil, Jim, Bob and Frankie. She was also predeceased by her infant son and her son-in-law's, James Langhorne Houck and Stephen Arthur Tyree.

She is survived by her husband, George Peters Ramsey, Jr. to whom she has been married for 73 years and her family, Pete and Margaret, Ed and Lisa, Brennan and Bob Lollis, Bill, Harriet Tyree and Margaret Houck; fourteen dearly loved grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren in whom, she took great delight in watching grow and mature.

She lived in Lynchburg most of her life and was deeply involved in the community which she loved. She attended Converse College and graduated from the University of Lynchburg (Lynchburg College). She was involved in many organizations including Meals on Wheels, CASA, JRDS, VES and First Presbyterian Church.

Children and their educations were her passions and she was fortunate enough to be employed as the headmistress of James River Day School from 1975 to 1983. James River Day School started as a grocery store and she always called it the "miracle on Boonsboro Road".

She held dear the beach time with her grandchildren as she watched them grow from infancy to adulthood, which she considered a blessing as well as her time with the next generation.

A private service for family only will be held later.
