Obituary of Esther Callahan Fisher

Esther May Callahan Fisher, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away, Friday, May 17, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Lawrence Wallace Fisher for 66 years.

Born April 2, 1928 in Woburn, MA, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Florence Callahan. She had worked part-time at Leggett’s Department Store in the clothing department. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She traveled extensively with her husband during his military career.

In addition to her husband, Larry, she is survived by two daughters, Beverly J. Miller and her husband, Eric, of Weyers Cave, VA and Catherine J. Pelletier and her husband, Roger, of Merion Station, PA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert W. Fisher; two brothers, Edward Callahan and Leo Callahan; one sister, Jean Paris.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with Monsignor Kenneth Rush as celebrant. Inurnment will be in Quantico National Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the funeral home.
