Obituary of Marguerite Scott Fariss Wile
Marguerite Scott Fariss Wile of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on April 9, 2019. She was born on January 29, 1922 in Campbell County. She was a daughter of the late John Lorenza Scott and Mattie DeJarnette Scott. Marguerite was predeceased by six brothers and one sister: Charles Liborn Scott, Gilmer Whitlow Scott, Vance Bowling Scott, James Oliver Scott, John Lorenza Scott, Jr. Donald Peter Scott and Alois Ann Scott Young.
Marguerite was a member of Peakland Baptist Church, active in Sunday School and Circle 1 for a time. She was a twenty-five year member of The Blue Ridge Chapter of the National Association of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a twenty-five year member of the Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia. She loved her family, flowers and being stylishly dressed.
“Rete” was married to the late Ewell Wesley Fariss for 37 years and is survived by one daughter, Julia Lee Fariss Hinnant (Harrison) of Goode and one son Ronald Scott Fariss (Amy) of Lynchburg, two grandchildren Robert Wesley Hinnant and Courtney Lea Fariss and one great-grandson, Cole Wesley Hinnant. Another granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Hinnant, is deceased.
She is also survived by her husband of twenty-one years, Larson Edward Wile and his two daughters Marilyn Moore and Brenda Wile.
A celebration of Marguerite’s life and faith will be at Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory 811 Wiggington Rd., Lynchburg on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Martha Kearse, Pastor of Peakland Baptist Church and Reverend Dennis Roberts, Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church co-officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
