Obituary of Amanda Sumpter Shirey

Amanda Sumpter Shirey, 68, of Lynchburg, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

She was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church.  Amanda was the loving wife of the late Eugene Shirey. She was preceded in death by her parents, G.H. and Octavia Sumpter.  Amanda is survived by four children and their spouses, Keith Shirey (Denah), Kevin Shirey (Rachel), Alice Rose Smith (Daniel), Sarah Marie Carmichael (C.L.); six grandchildren, Emilie, Kalyn & Isaac Smith; David Shirey; Tripp & Flynn Carmichael; and one brother and his wife, George Sumpter III (Carolyn).

Her family rejoices that, despite her many struggles, by God’s grace she fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith. They are thankful for her godly influence and look forward to being reunited with her in heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Hyland Heights Baptist Church, 11452 Wards Rd., Rustburg, VA 24588.  Relatives and friends are welcome at Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory, Waterlick Chapel (434) 237-2722 on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Virginia Memorial Park. Family will be receiving visitors at 232 Stoney Creek Dr., Madison Heights.
