Obituary of Nancy Harvey Floyd

Nancy Lewis Harvey Floyd, age 88, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Before she fell ill, she had a joyful morning playing bridge and having lunch with friends. Nancy was the daughter of Lewis T. and Alma K. Harvey, preceded in death by sister Alma Keith Russell and her niece Karen Russell English. Nancy was beloved mother to Tom Floyd and Cynthia Page, “Granny” to her grandsons Aaron Page and Noah Page, and survived by loved ones: Mary Jane Russell, Cheryl Floyd, Ray and Erich Alderfer, Brent Page, Sam and Karen Page, Dianne and Emma Smith.

Nancy was a lifelong Lynchburg resident, graduating from E. C. Glass High School and Lynchburg College, who retired from Centra Health. She was a member of College Hill Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and with the New Life Singers; a member of Fort Hill Woman’s Club, where she served as president; and a volunteer with the hospital auxiliary, named to the Volunteer Honor Roll in 2014 for her many hours of service and countless knit baby hats. She also knitted hundreds of sweaters for Lambs Wool Ministry. Nancy enjoyed line-dancing, reading, Skip-Bo, Scrabble, and her international mug collection. Nancy was a sweet and loving person to all.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 2nd, 2-4pm at College Hill Baptist Church. A celebration of Nancy’s life will follow at 4pm.
