Obituary of Kathryn Allen

The Lord embraced with loving arms, Kathryn Dawson Allen, 89, of Forest, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at her home after an extended illness. She was the wife of James Clyde Allen for 64 years. Born February 27, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia , she was a daughter of the late James Lloyd Dawson and Lola Cornelia East Dawson. She was a long time and faithful member of Forest Baptist Church. She served in the children?s nursery for over 25 years, as well as flower coordinator, various youth activities and the communion committee with her husband, Clyde. In addition to her husband, Clyde, she is survived by three daughters, Cynthia ?Cindy? Allen Hay and her husband, Walter ?W.D.? of Forest; Connie Allen Franklin and her husband, Bennie of Rustburg; Judy Allen Scott and her husband, Jeffrey of Forest; one sister Christine Henderson of Nathalie; four grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Staton, Benjamin James Franklin, Tara Staton Riblet and Brandon Allen Franklin; three great grandchildren, Timothy James Layne, Erika Lynn Staton , Derek Loudell Thornsbury and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Allen?s life and faith will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M.at Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. Tyler Scarlett, Rev. Gaylen Leverett and Rev. Todd Childers officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in Virginia Memorial Park.
