Obituary of James Morcom

James Edward ?Jim? Morcom, 78, of Monroe passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at his home after an extended illness. He was the husband of Patricia ?Pat? Doss Morcom. Born , October 16, 1934, in Amherst County, VA, he was a son of the late George Alfred Morcom and Viola Stinnett Morcom. He was a retired Estimator with Piedmont Carpet Company and recently worked at Diuguid Funeral Service as a director's assistant. He was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by one son, George David Morcom and his wife, Diana, of Monroe; one daughter, Cerise ?Mickey? M. Chappelle and her husband, Kirt, of Lynchburg; one brother Danny L. Morcom and his wife, Norma, of Arnoldsville, GA; one sister, Shirley M. Staton and her husband Bobby of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Jamie L. Roberts , Teri M. Roberts and Matthew K. Webb. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edwards Morcom, II, a grandson, Justin Shaner Morcom, and a brother Richard D. Morcom and his faithful canine companion, ?Mr. Mike?.. The family would like to thank Jim?s caregivers, Melissa Staples, Charles Bailey and Chris Jones for their excellent and loving care given to him. A celebration of Jim?s life and faith will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with the Rev. Todd Blake and Rev. John Ragland officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour immediately after the service. A reception and time of fellowship will be held 1:00 P.M. at the home of Jim?s sister, Shirley on Possum Island Rd. in Madison Heights following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Madison Heights Baptist Church-Building Fund, 329 Main Street, Madison Heights, VA 24572 or a charity of your choice. Diuguid Funeral Service and Crematory-Wiggington Road Chapel, 384-8900, is serving the family.
