Obituary of Nan Diuguid Flippin

Nan Denmead Diuguid Flippin, 92, passed away December 1, 2012, at Westminster-Canterbury. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on April 23, 1920, she was the daughter of Jessica Denmead Diuguid and Frank Sampson Diuguid. Mrs. Flippin was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert Jenkins Flippin, two brothers, Frank Sampson Diuguid, Jr. and Jesse Thomas Diuguid, II, and one sister, Evelyn Diuguid Putt. Mrs. Flippin was a member and past president of the Oakwood Garden Club, an active member of First Presbyterian Church, and a past member of the Junior League of Lynchburg. Mrs. Flippin was a past member of Boonsboro Country Club where she enjoyed the women's golf association. Mrs. Flippin is survived by two daughters, Jessica Scott Flippin of Lynchburg, Virginia, Nancy Flippin Patrick and husband, Allen, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, one granddaughter, Nan Wynne Patrick of Alexandria, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers, Darlene Ferguson, Esther Jones, Pat Kidd, Amber Spencer, Elizabeth Jackson, and to the staff and previous caregivers of Elite Care Services. The family would also like to thank all of the staff at Westminster-Canterbury for their care and service through the years. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Westminster-Canterbury on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Doctor John Scholer of First Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1215 Virginia Episcopal Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24503, Westminster-Canterbury, 501 Virginia Episcopal Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24503 or to a charity of one's choice. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Wiggington Road Chapel, 385-8900, is serving the family.
