Obituary of Carrington Baker

Carrington ?Sonny? Diuguid Baker, Sr., 81, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at University of VA-Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Hall Baker of 38 years. Born December 18, 1931 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Curtis Diuguid Baker and Lois Brooks Baker. He was a veteran of the Navy and fought in the Korean War. He was a retired A-1 machinist with B&W over 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 1727 , the American Legion-Post 16 and a lifetime member of the Lynchburg Marine Corps. League. He was a kind and compassionate man who donated to many different organizations. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Carrington Diuguid Baker, Jr. and a son-in-law, Stanley Dean Wade . He is survived by a son Dale Peyton Baker; three daughters, Deborah Privett and her husband, Ray, Martha B. Toler , Denise B. Wade and a daughter-in-law Kathy Baker. 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his little furry companion, ?Jada?. The family will receive friends today,Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the funeral home from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will also receive friends after the funeral on Monday at Sonny?s residence, 209 Smith Rd.,(off Waterlick Rd.). Memorial contributions may be made in ?Sonny?s? memory to the Rachael Horton Compassionate Care Fund, C/O Gentle Care Animal Hospital, 1365 Thomas Jefferson Rd, Forest, VA 24551.
