Obituary of Lloyd Stinnett

Lloyd Delmer Stinnett, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away at his home Monday, February 18, 2013. He was the son of the late William Lawrence Stinnett, Jr. and Virginia Beulah Johnson Stinnett. He was predeceased by his first wife of 33 years, Rebecca Shelton Stinnett. He is survived by his second wife, Betty H. Stinnett. Lloyd retired from Georgia Pacific with 33 years of service and he served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He was part-time funeral assistant with Diuguid Funeral Service. He was a devoted member of North Bedford Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, the Chair of Buildings & Grounds, a former usher and bible school worker. He also loved to lead the music and sang in the choir. Lloyd was also a founding member of the Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Department. He also played football with the ?Shoeless Wonders? at the Presbyterian Home. For Lloyd there was only one type of music Blue Grass! He played his banjo for church service, under many trees, Garages, Barns and open fields. He always had a pick in his pocket and his banjo in his truck. He is survived by his wife Betty H. Stinnett, his children Jimmy & Beth Stinnett of Madison Heights, VA; Mickey & Jill Stinnett of Colorado Springs, CO; Karen & Tony Humaran on Kingwood, TX. His Step children Mike & Robin Hicks of Forest, VA; Doug & Rebecca Hicks of Forest, VA; Robert & Peyton Hicks of Big Island. He was ?Papa? to 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; Cody Stinnett, Jesse Stinnett of Madison Heights; Victoria Humaran, Virginia Humaran, Maria Humaran of Kingwood, TX; Michael Stinnett, Cory Stinnett of Colorado Springs, CO; Sydney & Tyler Maglosky of Lynchburg, Taylor Hicks of Forest, Kelsey Hicks of Big Island and Parker Hicks of Forest and his ?Little Man? Blane Maglosky. Lloyd faced his battle with cancer for 8 1/2 years with courage and humor. He always said if God leads me to it, God will take me thru it. He was always ?fine? and enjoyed his group, The Happy Timers ? Charlie Buchanan, Vic Fitzgerald, Ronnie Wood, the late Buddy Gillespie. Lloyd played their music & told jokes to residence of retirement & nursing homes. Papa we will miss you but know you are in the presence of Jesus. A memorial service will be held at North Bedford Baptist Church, Friday, Feb. 22 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.Chad Brady, Rev. Charles Stinson and Rev. Frank Casper officiating, followed with a reception in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30-8:30 PM at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel. Burial will be private in Virginia Memorial Park.
