Obituary of Audrey Harvey Thompson

Audrey Kathleen Harvey Thompson, 84, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Westminster-Canterbury on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. She was born in Lynchburg on November 28, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Ruth Isabelle Satterwhite Harvey and Samuel Alexander Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dexter Joseph "Pete" Thompson, Jr. She is survived by two sisters, Jacqueline Harvey Dunford and Bettie "Jo" Harvey Carey and her husband Ron; three daughters, Deborah Foote and her husband, Paul, of Crewe, VA, Mary Dillard and her husband, Tommy, of Forest, VA and Sarah Whalen and her husband, Ted, of Goode, VA; five grandchildren, Ellen Foote Reed (Charles), Patricia Foote Campbell (Bradley), Joey Dillard, Chris Whalen and Kelly Whalen, 8 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Julia, Lauren, Luke, Jake, Wyatt, Mara and Ysabella; and numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey loved to be with her family, fish and golf with her late husband, Pete, cook, play bridge and spend time at the beach or in the mountains. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Kristy Toy, Home Instead, Lynchburg General Hospital and Westminster-Canterbury's nursing staff of the 6th floor and their Chaplain Caitlin Hoy. A visitation will be held at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel Friday, April 12, 2013 from 6-7:30 PM. A celebration of her life will be held at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund, 501 V.E.S. road, Lynchburg, VA 24503.
