Obituary of Joyce Wingfield Minnick

JOYCE WINGFIELD MINNICK Joyce Wingfield Minnick, 82, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Lynchburg on May 25, 1931 she was a daughter of the late Henry C. Wingfield and Annie Paige Wingfield. Mrs. Minnick was retired from Lynchburg Wholesale Florist and was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. She was a volunteer tutor with Lynchburg Literacy Council and a member of Altrusa. She was very proud of her English heritage, she enjoyed the company of her family when they could gather together and she had a deep love of traveling and seeing new sites. She is survived by ten cousins, Phyllis H. Mann, Bobbie Bourne and Tommie Lawhorne all of Concord. Carolyn Crosby of Orlando, Sarah H. Feagan, Betty and Charles Russell, Ray and Lucille Paige all of Lynchburg, Jean P. Suttenfield of Goode and Faye Routon of Madison Heights. and Jo Hodges of Bedford. She is also survived by her special friends, Pat and Bobby Staton and Dorothy Watkins all of Lynchburg and Gary Davis of Lynchburg. The family would like to thank Dr.'s Richard Miller, Michael Valentine and John Plankell and the staff of First Dominion Home Health Care for the care they provided her over the years. A Celebration of Joyce's Life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Diuguid Wiggington Chapel with Pastor Kenneth W. Lawhorne officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
