Obituary of Laura Ramsey Cyrus

Laura Ramsey Cyrus Laura Ramsey Cyrus, 89, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013. She was the wife of the late Charles Edward Cyrus Jr. Mrs. Cyrus was born in Pamplin, VA, on September 28, 1924, the first child of the late Clarence Ramsey and Eugenia Ramsey. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who worked hard and had a ready smile. She was a committed member of Fairview Christian Church in Lynchburg, and enjoyed a long, successful career at Sears, Roebuck and Company. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda Cyrus Malone. She is survived by two grandchildren, Anna Connell and her husband, Richard, of Nashville, TN, and Edward Malone and his wife, Josie, of Washington, DC; three great-grandchildren, Mason Huie, Tristan Connell and Savannah Connell of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Betty Jean Jamerson and her husband, Douglas, of Garner, NC, and Catherine Price of Petersburg, VA; several nieces and nephews, including Carolyn Guthrie of Raleigh, NC, Patricia Hadley of Raleigh, NC, Anne Mainor of Garner, NC, and Janice Crutchfield of Petersburg, VA; and many other loved ones. A memorial service in honor of Mrs. Cyrus will be conducted at Diuguid Funeral Service and Crematory - Waterlick Chapel on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, November 3, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m., also at Diuguid. Interment to follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
