Obituary of James Larry Barbour

James Larry Barbour, 68, of Evington, VA passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce C. Barbour. Born August 9, 1945 in Roanoke, VA, he was a son of the late James Robert Barbour and Pernia Weeks Barbour. He was a retired truck driver having previously worked for Harris Trucking Company. He was a former member of Moose Lodge 715, the Forest Volunteer Fire Dept. and Calvary Cross Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Roxanne B. Paris (Randal), Lisa B. Crouch, Cheryl R. Barbour (Tom); one son, James Larry Barbour, Jr. (Robin); grandchildren, Tabitha Diaz (Frank), Shawn Gilbert, Savannah Drewry (Frankie), Josh Gilbert, Roy Blair (Christian), Brandon Blair (Jackie), Brittany Barbour, Haley Ragland and Holly Barbour; 5 great grandchildren, Maddison Drewry, MaKenzie Drewry, Trinity Blair, Owen Drewry ,Mariah Diaz, Charlie and Nathan Ragland; a special friend Sharon Stewart. He was preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Gail Barbour and two sisters, Lois Correll and Dolly Alls. The family wishes to thank Dr. Headley and his staff and CENTRA Hospice for their compassion and dedicated care given Mr. Barbour. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. John Ragland officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and at 316 Peninsula St. at other times. Burial will be in Virginia Memorial Park.
