Obituary of Emil Ludwig Hansen

Emil Ludwig Hansen, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Guinevere T. Hansen. Born February 8, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa, he was a son of the late Ludwig Peter Hansen and Elfrieda Braucher. He was a retired Customer Engineer with IBM and a member of the American Legion Post -16. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a longtime member of the Austin-Healey Car Club of America. He is survived by one son, Martin Emil Hansen of Franklinton, NC; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Ore (Allan) of Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren, David Martin Hansen (Chelsea) of Youngsville, NC, Joseph Michael Hansen of Lynchburg, Steven Jon Hansen of Sunnyvale, CA, William Allan Ore, Jr. of Lynchburg and Justin Michael Millner (Bridget) also of Lynchburg; nine great-grandchildren, Lily Grace Hansen, Kenzie and Becklyn Gunter, Kris and Justin Ore, Dixie Dawn Millner, Bradley, Jacob and Lucas Hansen. He was preceded in death by one son, Dale Wayne Hansen, one sister Katie Annaliessa Hansen. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and at other times at 103 Watkins Place.. Burial with military honors will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 2301 Park Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24501. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Waterlick Chapel, 237-2722, is serving the family.
