Obituary of Frances Clark Hardy

FRANCES CLARK HARDY Frances Clark Hardy, 93, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at her residence. Born in Lynchburg on June 1, 1920 she was a daughter of the late William A. Clark and Bessie Orr Clark and was the widow of Joseph Stogdale Hardy, Jr. Mrs. Hardy was a retired assistant to the general manager of G.E. A charter member of Timberlake United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She was also an avid bridge player. She is survived by a son, William A. Hardy and his wife, Mary of Westerville, OH. Five grandchildren, J. Sean Hardy, Kimberly Powell Kusserow and her husband, Chris, Joseph S. Hardy, IV and his wife, Missy, Christopher Drake and his wife, Allison and Jennifer L. Downing. Five great grandchildren, Christian A. Hardy, Kayla E. Hardy, Austin Lee Kusserow, Anna C. Drake and Noah C. Drake. A daughter-in-law, Carol Anne Hardy Beisser. A beloved sister-in-law, Gwen H. Meeks. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph S. Hardy, III and a grandson, Christopher Lee Powell. A Celebration of Frances' Life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Timberlake United Methodist Church with Pastor Lynne Alley-Grant officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held at the church following the service.
