Obituary of Marie Scott Arthur

Marie Scott Arthur Marie Scott Arthur, 64, died Thursday morning, January 23, 2014 at Lynchburg General Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Marie was born November 9, 1949 and lived in the Lynchburg VA area. She is survived by her son, Michael T. Mays and his wife, Holly and stepdaughter Carsen Peters of Lynchburg; grandsons, Michael B. Mays and Matthew T. Mays of Concord; and siblings Mrs. Richard (Susan) Fox of Powhatan, VA, Glenn Arthur of Summerville, SC and Rev. Jane A. Nelson of Hendersonville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late E. Labon and Jewell Mizelle Arthur. A graduate of Brookville High School, Marie received training at Philips Business College which prepared her for a long career at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company's regional office. Marie loved fresh flowers and gardening, animals, cooking, and reading her Bible. A celebration service is planned for Sunday afternoon, January 26,2014 at 2:00 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, on Timberlake Road. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church's historic cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, VA. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Waterlick Chapel, 237-2722, is serving the family.
