Obituary of Jane Garrett Pittman
Jane Garrett Taylor Pittman, 90, of Concord, passed away Monday April 1, 2024 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Johnnie Earl Pittman.
Born November 13, 1933, in Farmville, VA to the parents of William Douty Taylor and Edith Jane Garrett Taylor. She was a graduate of Holy Cross High School and University of Virginia Nursing School in 1955. She always loved UVA sports. She later went to work for Lynchburg General Hospital as a registered nurse and was there for forty-four years. She was a member of the former Old Forest Road Baptist Church.
Jane is survived by a daughter, Sheri Pittman Essex (Michael) of Lynchburg; one brother John Taylor (Ann) of Washington state; one sister, Marilyn Taylor Jennings of Maryland; three grandchildren, Mandy Nicole Essex, Kayla Brianne Essex and Jillian Taylor Pittman (Nick Kameno ); five great-grand-children, Catherine Grace Essex, Rhythm Renee Comer, Ryleigh Morgan Comer, Nicholas Storm Kameno and Navy Grace Kameno; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Laurie Ann Pittman Johnson and one sister, Margaret Taylor Hauf.
Jane will be greatly missed by her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held Monday, April 8, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
