Obituary of Annalee Gross Bailey

Annalee Gross Bailey, 94, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Runk and Pratt-Pearls of Life. She was the widow of Fred S. Bailey.

Born July 5, 1929, in Beaver, WVA, she was a daughter of the late William P. and Opal B. Gross. She and her husband, Fred, were long-term residents of Lynchburg. She retired from Lynchburg City Schools after more than twenty-five years as an administrative secretary. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and attended every possible function of her children and many of her granddaughter's activities.  

She is survived by her son, Ray Bailey and his wife, Janine, of Harrisonburg, VA, Linda Kay Blount and her husband, Todd, of Lynchburg; one granddaughter, Kendall Ann Bailey; four brothers, Kenneth Gross, Ardith Gross (Margaret), Sam Gross (Virginia), Tom Gross (Helen) and one sister, Naomi Williams, all from West Virginia. She was predeceased in death by three sisters, Mildred Lilly, Corine Phillips and Athlene Jolly.

A family visitation will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Fort Hill Memorial Park followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bob Moody officiating.
