Obituary of Simeon Sinclair Ford, Sr.

Simeon Sinclair Ford, Sr, of Lynchburg, passed away at the age of 99, on August 3, 2023. Born in Lynchburg, he graduated from Holy Cross Academy and Phillips Business College. Simeon proudly served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and retired from the US Postal Service after 33 years.
As a life-long member of Holy Cross Catholic Church he served as a Greeter, Catechumen sponsor, and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.
Simeon was an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed playing with friends at Poplar Forest Golf Club.
He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. Simeon was preceded in death by one grandchild, Stephen Jones, III. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Thelma Doss Ford. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children and their spouses; Simeon Ford, Jr. (Nancy) of Forest; Lorna Jones (Steve) of St. Augustine, FL; Paul Ford (Dianne) of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Simeon Ford, III (Deidra), Christen Walczak (Michael), Kimberly Gonzalez (Felipe), Stephanie Toffaletti (Dave), Amy Fisher (Scott), and Samuel Ford; nine great-grandchildren, Simeon IV and Piper Ford; Ellie, Ford, and Ivy Walczak; Kara and Alex Gonzalez; Olivia and Luca Toffaletti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11:00am on Friday, August 11th, followed by a reception in the church commons. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery after the reception.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Valley View Retirement Center and The Summit Health and Rehab Center for their compassionate care.
