Obituary of Edward Patrick Maddox

Edward Patrick “Monty” Maddox, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home after an extended illness. He was the husband of Bettie Johnson Maddox for 63 years.

Born September 8, 1934, in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of the late Marion Nathaniel Maddox and Roberta Alice Phillips Maddox. He was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church and retired from Rock-Tenn Corporation.

In addition to his wife, Bettie, he is survived by three sons, Edward P. Maddox and his wife, Mary, of Leesburg, VA, Jeffrey B. Maddox and his wife, Vickie, of Rustburg, Glenn A. Maddox of Lynchburg. VA; one daughter, Karen D. Maddox of Rustburg, VA; two sisters, Helen Nuzzi and Edyth Mullagh, both of Evington, VA; 10 grandchildren, Chris Cyrus, Stephanie Ward, Andrea and Daniel Maddox, Ricky Alls, Candace Beckner, Cassie Ware, Tabitha North, Crystal Bryant and Ashby Maddox; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

 A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with Pastor Carl Weiser officiating. Entombment will be held in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
