Obituary of Robert Wood

Robert Henry Wood, 70, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 in the Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, VA. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Ripley Wood. Born July 2, 1937 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Percy Herbert and Eva Wright Wood. Bob was retired from GE-Ericsson in Lynchburg and was of the Lutheran faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Bob is survived by one daughter Natalie W. Leonard and her husband David of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Letty Neas of Big Island; two granddaughters, Sara Davis-Leonard and Ruth Davis-Leonard both of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by one brother Marshall Robert Wood and one sister Delores Wilson. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10:30 AM in Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with Rev. Mark Wilkerson and Rev. Mike Sadzinski officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Fort Hill Memorial Park with full military honors by Lynchburg's American Legion -Post 16.
