Obituary of Mary Snell

Mary Crowell Snell, 93, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Westminster-Canterbury after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Durwood Cecil Snell. Born May 2, 1915 in Lebanon, TN, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Samuel and Eula Lettie Molder Crowell. She was a dedicated and very active member of Fort Ave. Church of Christ and retired from a career in sales. She was also active in the Diuguid Widow to Widow Program.. Mrs. Snell is survived by her son Donald P. Snell and his wife Lorena of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Snell and a daughter, June Marie Shurbet; a granddaughter, Lela Beth Shurbet Morrison and a great granddaughter, Angela Morrison; two brothers, Charles Crowell and Edward Crowell; two sisters, Lora Mae Isom and Evelyn Crowell. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Drinkard Health Center at Westminster Canterbury for their love and wonderful care given Mrs. Snell. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 10:00 am in Fort Ave. Church of Christ with Minister Charles McGhee officiating. The family will receive friends Friday at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel from 7-8:30 pm. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park.
