Obituary of Nancy Downey Campbell

Nancy Lee Downey Campbell, 73, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clarence Edward "Buck" Campbell, Jr. Born July 31, 1934 in Lowmoor, VA, she was a daughter of the late Daley Lee and Alma Belle Downey. She was retired from Hill's- Ames Department Store where she worked as a customer service manager for over 25 years. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was also an associate member of the Lynchburg Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. Mrs. Campbell is survived by three sons, Clarence Edward "Eddie" Campbell, III, Gary Campbell and his wife, Dana and Mike Campbell all of Lynchburg; two daughters, Marjorie Byrd of Williamsburg and Cheri Blair and her husband "Bo" of Forest; two sisters, Margaret Ann Hylton of Grottoes, VA and Jane Terrell of Covington, VA; ten grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by one brother, Warren A. Downey and one sister, Joan D. Newman. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 11:00 am in Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with Rev. David Cobb and Rev. Virgil Knipp officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
