Obituary of Helen Hawkins

Helen Nelson Hawkins, 90 , of Rustburg, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Louie Edward Hawkins, Sr. Born October 19, 1918 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the elate Harry Lee and Hettie Virginia Snead Nelson. She was retired from the Retail Merchants Association and attended Mead Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hawkins is survived by two sons, Robert "Bobby" W. Hawkins and his wife Lynn of Lynchburg, Louie "Andy" Edward Hawkins, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Appomattox; one daughter, Helen "Betty" Elizabeth Prophater and her husband Gene of Rossville, GA; nine grandchildren, a8 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George Russell Hawkins. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 17, 2008 at 12:30 PM in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. George Hatmaker officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 PM at the funeral home.
