Obituary of Lula Belle

Lula Belle "Lu" Whiddon, 76, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 in Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Duval Saunders Martin and Donald Whiddon. Born June 7, 1932 in Natural Bridge, VA, she was the daughter of the late Walter Edward and Mabel Austin Johnson. Lu was retired from Roses Department Store and a member of Tree of Life Ministries. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey D. Martin of Lynchurg; one brother Pete Johnson of Glasgow, VA; four grandchildren, Dana Martin, Billy Martin, Harley Martin and Selena Plott; one great-grandchild Logan Martin; A very special former daughter-in-law, Pat Fox and her husband, Ed, Sylvia Silby of Lynchburg and Evelyn Huffman of SC. A celebration of Lu's life will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 3:00 pm in Diuguid Wiggington Chapel with the Rev. Mack Almond and Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Pat and Ed Fox, 2443 Sunnymeade Rd.
