Obituary of Bernice Mummery

Bernice White Mummery, 88, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was the wife of the late Lester Rathbun Mummery, Jr. Born August 6, 1920 in Lynchburg she was the daughter of the late Herbert Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Mays White. Bernice was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School and attended Phillips Business College and VCU. She was member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a retired employee of Reynolds Aluminum Co. and a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Roanoke. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Wesley White, Jr. She is survived by her brother Alfred E. White and wife June of Lynchburg; a very dear friend, Jane Huffman and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00 pm in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 7-8:30 pm at Diuguid Wiggington Chapel and at other times will be at the home of her brother Alfred.
