Obituary of Garnett Marston
Garnett Hugh Marston, 74, of Lynchburg
died Wednesday, February 11, 2009
at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Person County, NC
on June 22, 1934 he was a
son of the late John Albert Marston and Marie Palmer Marston and was the husband
of Violet Wootton Marston.
Mr. Marston was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served
during the Korean conflict.
He retired from General Electric as a tool and die maker. He
was a member of Marsh Memorial
United Methodist
Church and the Marshall
Lodge AF & AM. He was a umpire with the Little League and kept the statistics for the Brookville
High School football program.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three grandsons,
Chris Marston and his wife, Keri, Jason Marston and Jonathan Marston. A daughter
in law, Dawn Marston Hartman of NC. Two brothers, Reed Marston and Kenneth
Marston both of NC. Two sisters, Joyce Garrett and Doris Stephens both of NC. He
is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
three sons, Wendell Marston, Kendall Marston and Michael Marston. A brother,
Haywood Marston and a sister, Eunice Ashley.
A Celebration of Garnett's Life and Faith will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Marsh
Memorial United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Randy Harlow
officiating. Interment will take place at 3:30
PM at Providence Baptist
Church Cemetery,
Roxboro, NC
with the Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM
Friday at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
