Obituary of Charles Pettyjohn

Charles Raine Pettyjohn, Jr. of Forest died Saturday, February 21, 2009. Born in Lynchburg on March 26, 1926 he was a son of the late Mildred Hudson Pettyjohn and Charles Raine Pettyjohn. Mr. Pettyjohn was a veteran of WW II where he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He attended Washington & Lee University and then became a partner in the firm of John P. Pettyjohn Co. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he formerly served on the Board of Deacons. He also served on the Board of Directors of the First and Merchants Bank. He was preceded in death by brother, Walker Pettyjohn, II and a son, Charles Raine Pettyjohn, III. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Macon R. Pettyjohn. A daughter, Macon Pettyjohn of Forest. A sister, Mrs. William R. Stubbs of Lexington. A brother, R. Bruce Pettyjohn and his wife, Susan of Boone, NC. A Celebration of Mr. Pettyjohn's Life and Faith will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. John Scholer officiating.
