Obituary of Ted Jennings
Ted Kennedy Jennings, Sr.,73, of Rustburg passed away Sat February 28, 2009 at the Summit. He was the husband of Janice Johnson Jennings
for 53 years.
Born October 16,
1935 in Catawba, he was a son of the late Richard Thornton Jennings
and Hazel Clayton Hughes and the grandson of the late Felix F. Claytor and
Gertrude Claytor. Ted was a U.S. Army
veteran and a 50 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers. He owned and operated Lone Jack
Market for 23 years and was a charter member of Community
Fellowship Baptist
Church.
A kind and gentle man, he deeply touched everyone he
knew. He was a loving and devoted
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Prior to surviving cancer, he enjoyed
bowling, camping, fishing, softball, pitching horseshoes and most of all he
enjoyed serving his church.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy H.
Poindexter. In addition to his wife, he
is survived by his son, Ted K. Jennings, Jr. and wife Tricia of Rustburg; three
daughters, Deborah J. Rosenberger of Lynchburg,
Cindy J.. Stone and husband Marc of Concord and Kimberly J. Brown and husband
Grant of North Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother Chuck Hughes Jr. of Rustburg; nine grandchildren,
Austin and Ali Rosenberger, Danielle Tanner and husband Chris, Derek Jennings,
Lauren and Grayson Gibson, Elizabeth Tolbert and husband Keith, Emily and Matt
Stone; a great-grandson Bryce Tolbert and a very special cousin, Jeannine
Kerek.
A celebration of Ted's life will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Diuguid Wiggington Chapel with the
Rev. Chris Weidley officiating.
Interment will follow at Virginia
Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 at the
funeral home.
