Obituary of Emilie Graves

Emilie Douskova Graves, 86, of Bedford County went to be with the Lord this Thursday, July 2, 2009. She was at her home at 18340 Forest Rd., Lynchburg. Mila Graves was a talented seamstress known to many in the Lynchburg area for her craft. Born May 8, 1923 in Sedlice, Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of the late Frantisek and Emilie Douskova. It was there she met the late Thomas Willis Graves, Sr. while he was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Later he returned to her village and they married on July 4, 1946. Mrs. Graves is survived by her son, Thomas W. Graves, Jr. of Lynchburg and her grandchildren, Shara and Timothy Graves of Lynchburg. Her brother, Charles Dousek of the Czech Republic is her closest living relative. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7 at Centenary United Methodist Church, Pastor Rick Ecklund will officiate. The family will recieve friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations for a Yashino Cherry Tree can be made to the ?National D-Day Memorial Foundation?.
