Obituary of Roger Woody Coleman

Roger Woody "Whistle" Coleman, 65, of Madison Heights, VA, passed Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Nannie (Nancy) Kidd Coleman of 22 years. Born July 28, 1952 in Charlottesville, VA, he was a son of the late Virginia Coleman Johns. Roger was a retired truck driver with Counts & Dobyns Construction Company. He was a very hard worker and provider for his family. Roger love NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhardt. He also loved to fish as well as spending time with his family and especially loved his step-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by one step-son, Raymond A. Martin and his friend, Christy, of Amherst; two step-daughters, Mary E. Bradley and her husband, Stephen, of Appomattox and Brandi S. Floyd, whom he raised, and her husband, Jamie, of Rustburg; one brother, William Shifflett of Richmond; two sisters, Virginia Coleman of Lynchburg and Doris Shifflett of Madison Heights; nine step-grandchildren, Carleigh Floyd also known by her PaPa as "Turkey", Cameron Floyd, Chase Floyd, Winter Bradley, Zachary Bradley, Starla Marsh, fondly known as "Snake", by her PaPa, Arleigh Martin, Carter Martin and Chezine Martin; two nephews, Robert Ford and William Shifflett; one neice, Chesica Shifflett. He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Shifflett Martin. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with the Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Meade Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alan B.
