Obituary of Ernest Roger Cobb

Ernest Roger Cobb, Sr. 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Guggenheimer Nursing & Rehab after a short illness with cancer. He was the husband of the late Laura Lorraine Taylor Cobb for 54 years. Born August 11, 1932 in Mount Holly, NJ, he was a son of the late Russell Ambrose Cobb and Margaret Ruth Miller Cobb. He was a retired Pre-production Engineer with Lynchburg Foundry after 41 years of service and later owned and operated Cobb's Stump Grinding Co. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Lynchburg American Legion-Post 16 for many years and taught woodworking classes at Westminster-Canterbury. He loved to fish and do wood carving. He is survived by two sons, Ernest Roger Cobb Jr, of Leesville and his girl-friend Susan and Thomas Andrew Cobb of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew Cobb one great-granddaughter, Sidney Cobb. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, George and Bill Cobb. A private interment of his ashes will take place at Virginia Memorial Park at a later date.
