Obituary of Timothy Eugene Coleman

Timothy "Tim" E. Coleman, Sr, 76, of Evington, Va., passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2016. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and the husband of Pamela Greene Coleman. Tim was born in Bedford County on March 15, 1940, and also resided in Arizona and California for many years before returning to Virginia. He was the son of the late Gertrude Coleman Phillips. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Timothy Coleman, Jr (Sue) of Lynchburg, Mike Coleman (Karen) of Waynesboro, and Jimmy Coleman of Virginia; one daughter, Faith Coleman of San Antonio, Texas; two stepdaughters, Teresa Robinson of Madison Heights, and Kimberly Goff (Danny) of Rustburg; eight grandchildren, Donnie Doughty, Katherine Cavey (Matt), Joshua Dillon (Stacie), Eric Dillon, Katherine Revis, Ashley Coleman, Justin Coleman, and Brice Coleman; five great grandchildren, Damien Young, Ethan Doughty, Shantel Doughty, and Charlotte and Olivia Cavey; four sisters, Loretta Eagle, and Cheryl Coleman of Evington, Brenda Sprouse of Campbell County, and Joanne Miller (Richard) of Forest; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Coleman, Mike Coleman, and Robert Coleman, Sr.; and one granddaughter, Lisa Doughty. Tim was a longtime member of Moose Family Fraternity and American Legion Post 16, and he leaves behind many friends. A funeral service will not be conducted, but a memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Altavista Moose Lodge 1433, 3463 Lynch Mill Road, Altavista, VA 24517. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Paralyzed Veterans Association, Donation Processing, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086 or a charity of your choice. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory, Wiggington Road Chapel, 385-8900, is serving the family.
