Obituary of Frank McCann

Frank Moses McCann, 80, of Lynchburg died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lillian and Louise. He was born in Appomattox County on Oct. 11, 1926 to the late James Archer McCann and Ida Leola Wildfong McCann. He graduated from Appomattox High School and later from The College of William and Mary with both a BA in Jurisprudence and a Law Degree. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict, and was commissioned in the Naval Reserve after he received his Law Degree. Frank was active in both the American Legion and the Jaycees in Appomattox, Roanoke, and Lynchburg. In Roanoke, he was also a member of the Cosmopolitan Club. In Lynchburg, he was an active member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and President of the Holy Cross PTO. He was married to Nancy Anne Clexton who survives him along with their seven children, Michael, James, Nancy, Edward, Jonathan, Steven, and Zita. In addition he is survived by his sister Ilene and two brothers, Archie and Ormand, all of Virginia. The family wishes to gratefully and publicly acknowledge the staff of The Slagle Home for their excellent care of Frank these past two years. A private internment will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Old Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 16. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon in Diuguid's Wiggington Road Chapel. A gathering and reception for family and friends will be hosted at Diuguid's after the service
