Obituary of Bernard Johnson

Bernard Edwin Johnson, Jr., 83, of Lynchburg died Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth Gilliland Johnson. Born August 30, 1924 in Campbell County he was the son of the late Bernard Edwin Johnson, Sr. and Janie Carwile Johnson. Ed was a US Navy Veteran of WW II and a retired employee of General Electric with 25 years of service. After retirement he was employed as a courier for Centra Health. He was a long time active member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church where he was a past deacon and a member of the Buddy Huff Sunday School Class. Ed was preceded in death by his son George Edwin Johnson and a sister Louise J. Stone. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Ann J. Reynolds and granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Guthrie both of Roanoke; three sisters, Christine J. Mays and husband L. G., Vivian J. Mays and husband Alfred all of Gladys and Angie J. Brown and husband William of Evington and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday 1:00 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Randy Bower officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
