Obituary of George Carroll

GEORGE LYLE CARROLL George Lyle Carroll, 64, of Lynchburg died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Lynchburg on September 4, 1943 he was a son of the late Lyle W. Carroll and Nannie Franklin Carroll and was the husband of Linda S. Carroll. Mr. Carroll was a retired conductor for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Chris G. Carroll of Lynchburg. A daughter, Melissa C. Firkins and her husband, Scott of Lynchburg. A brother, Kenneth R. Carroll and his wife, Pam. A Sister, Joyce C. Maddox and her husband, Thomas of Amherst. There was only one other thing that he loved more than the land and farming and that was his four grandchildren, William Carroll, Kaleb Firkins, Tanner Firkins and Trey Firkins. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of George's life will be held 10:00 AM Friday, November 23, 2007 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Richard Jett officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and at other times at George's home, 610 Bedford Springs Rd., Lynchburg. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Campbell County Rescue Squad.
