Obituary of Marjorie Ferguson Lucado

Marjorie Ferguson Lucado, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008 in The Summit Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Clyde Lucado, Sr. Born January 15, 1922 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late John Douglas and Lenore Estes Lucado. She was a former employee of Scott Insurance with 35 years of service and a life time member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church, where she sang in the Senior Citizens Live Embers Choir. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, Lynchburg Suburban Club, Woodcrest Garden Club, American Red Cross and Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Lucado is survived her son, Wilbur Clyde Lucado, Jr. and his wife Linda of Lynchburg; one brother John W. Ferguson of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Peggy Elliott of Lynchburg, Todd Lucado of Fairfax and Jennifer Houck and her husband Tony of Danville; two great-grandchildren, Travis Elliott and Noah Houck and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, John Douglas Lucado, one granddaughter Cynthia D. Lucado,; one sister, Virginia Connor and two brothers, Floyd Ferguson and Kenneth Ferguson. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Summit Health and Rehabilitation for the special care that was given to Mrs. Lucado. A celebration of Mrs. Lucado's life will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 1:00 PM in Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church with the Revs, Nathanael Habel, David Breckenridge and Randall Walton officiating.The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church. A private interment will be held Wednesday in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church, 1301 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, Virginia 24504. Diuguid Funeral Service-Waterlick Chapel (237-2722) is serving the family.
