Obituary of Maggie Tweedy Johnson

Maggie Mae Tweedy Johnson, 99, of Lynchburg died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 in Medical Care Center. For the past four years she had made her home at The Oaks of Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Tommie W. Johnson, Sr. of 58 years. Born November 8, 1908 in Campbell County she was a daughter of the late Artie Smith and Elizabeth Evans Tweedy. She was a retired employee of Lynchburg Retail Merchants Association with 30 years of service and was a long time active member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, the Rev. T.W. Johnson, Jr. and wife Louise of Harrisonburg, her daughter, Erma J. Jones and husband Robert of Baltimore, MD., a brother, Jimmie E. Tweedy of Rustburg and sister, Annie T. Coleman of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Robert S. Jones, Jr. of Baltimore, Brian E. Johnson and Amy J. Stout both of Charlotte, NC, Laura J. Pawlas of Lynchburg and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00 am at West Lynchburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Cox and the Rev. James D. Newman. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel from 7-8:30 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider the Endowment Fund at West Lynchburg Baptist Church. .
